Dentures and Partial Dentures

When someone loses all their teeth, either all the top ones or all the bottom ones, or both one of their options is a full denture or dentures. As a rule a top denture is more stable because a vacuum can be created between the denture and the tissue that it covers. This means that it "stays put". Denture adhesive also tends to work better with an upper denture. A lower denture, in my opinion, is the worst kind of tooth replacement option available. It has a tendency to "float" and is not very stable.

A partial denture is just that. It is "partial", which means there are some teeth left and the partial denture replaces the ones that are missing. There are a variety of types of partial dentures. A traditional partial denture has a metal framework with pink acrylic processed into it. Teeth are attached to this acrylic. The teeth are also acrylic.

    Q & A: Dentures and Partial Dentures

My partial dentures at the top, fell on the tiled floor and snapped in half. I would like to know roughly the cost to fix this. It was a defininte clear snap in half.
It sounds like you have an all acrylic partial denture (no metal). A new one runs about $500-700. A partial with a metal framework costs between $900-1200.
